New car in June - paint questions
Hi Guys - Got a question that I'm hoping you could help me answer
I'm going to be in receipt of a new R Design with expected delivery date of 1st June. It's going to be metallic black and I'm keen to ensure that it looks its best from the off Do I: Pay the dealer £300 and get Diamondbrite applied before it gets delivered? Get a local detailer/valeter to come and give the paintwork a once over and possibly apply some sealer and long lasting wax type stuff? How much would this cost and do we have any recommendations that will do East Lothian in Scotland? Buy the stuff myself and spend a whole day (or more) getting a sweat up? That way I'll have the gear to be able to do it again if/when the notion takes me? If so, what products should I buy and where should I buy them? Thanks in advance Scott |

I did ours myself using diamond brite the first weekend we had it , I know it was done properly and saved a couple of hundred quid that way ! Also I didn't work up too much of a sweat doing it , goes on and comes off very easily. Bought a complete kit off ebay for around £30-00.

Is the diamondbrite kit worth the money or would you go down the autoglym/poor boys/zymol/turtle wax/do-do (the list is endless)?

If you can get a Diamond Brite kit for around £30ish then it is very good value, my kit came with parts 1 & 2 of the sealant, a tin of scotchguard to treat the interior against stains and also the kit contained a bottle of shampoo and preserver. There even a set of stickers to stick to your windows to prove it has been applied.

I'm not too fussy about the interior as we're fairly careful in what we take into the car - dirty feet probably the worst that we can expect (at this stage)
Is a days work/effort plus the cost of a diamondbrite pack from ebay the same as a specialist detailer doing what they do for £150-£250?? Will the detailer/valeter do a better job as the last thing I want is to do something wrong and feck up the paint for the lifetime of the car? |

If I were you I would have a look at the Detailing World website and then decide - there are lots of products and manufacturers out there to choose from. Personally I would go to a Pro Detailer and have the work done - how you maintain the vehicle thereafter is down to you but it takes a lot of care and effort to maintain a perfect finish throughout the lifecycle of the vehicle.

I've got two cars one treated with Zanio products and the XC90 (Diamond Black) treated with Gtechiq C1 Crystal Lacquer. You really can see and tell tell the difference with the C1 Crystal Lacquer treatment. Not a cheap Diamond Brite option, but a much more professional long lasting treatment worth every penny IMO!
