I doubt it would. In fact it would make it worse because the first bump they had on summer tyres they'd blame on the fact they thought they had winter tyres on.
Or vice versa. |

You are incorrect. I have fitted winter tyres to my car for the very first time in more than 40 years of driving cars and I am mightily impressed with them. After reading several professional reviews, I chose to buy Continental Winter Contact TS 830 P and I consider the £155 per corner cost to have been a very wise investment. It is clear to me that spending £620 (for a simple life-saving measure and it is at a relatively small cost) to keep you from kissing the scenery in our unpredictable weather conditions, in which I drive between 20,000 and 30,000 miles per year; is the single most effective active safety measure that I have ever undertaken. I have been driving in all winter conditions from freshly fallen snow, packed snow, slush, ice and black ice; in temperatures of up to minus 6 degrees celsius and it is a world of difference away from using summer tyres. The available grip and the stability of the car with its improved braking distances in wet or icy conditions has really surprised me. The well-designed sipes clear standing water from the road rapidly and driving in very wet conditions is now much improved too, in terms of the stability of the car where it has hit a pool of standing water on a motorway. These Contis are also supposed to have very good wear characteristics too and I am hoping to get some excellent mileage from them. I will leave them on during the summer months too. There is no increase in road noise from them. Am I a convert to the fitting of winter tyres? YES! Would I fit them to my car again? YES! Would I recommend them to my friends and family members? Absolutely; 100% YES!

It's not the rare colour of your car that keeps it glued to the road. Never is a long time and given that you have to pay for a set of tyres or else you cannot drive your car, improving your grip in winter whenever you can does appear to be a desirable thing.
