I cycle on my own and try to keep as near the side of the road as possible but sometimes find that I am squeezed by two vehicles that won't give way to each other and I am a potential victim of little significance. Some bigger vehicles and/macho drivers are reluctant to slow down. Road designers should take a lot of the blame. They design roads without any space for cyclists or pedestrians, so when these venture out into the highway they are seen as obstructions.

Sometimes think the only room some cyclists deserve is room 101 - or a padded cell. But then I do drive in Oxford...

Being an occasional cyclist myself, I always endeavour to give them as much space as possible, but somtimes other road users abuse this. The other day I had a motor-cyclist pass between me and the cyclist I was overtaking. Sometimes folk forget that all have an equal right to use our roads, icluding horses and pedestrians.

Regards. John.

The posts on this thread reinforce my view that most on this forum, like many car drivers, are anti-anyone who might ride a bicycle - I'll include motorcyclists too.

But then this forum is a microcosm of wider society surely ?

Not true at all in my case; I treat all cyclists and motorcyclists (plus all other road and pavement users) as possible hazards and behave in an appropriate safe manner. Mostly they are not hazards. Some are, some are very dangerous hazards particularly to themselves

Some are so very stupid indeed and risk their own safety. Like the idiot in Chester on a bike that turned right when the lights changed when on my nearside ! A very clearly marked go straight on/ turn right lane. I was going straight on. It would have been very easy for him to be on my offside if he had a working brain.
