My word, that slipped past me! Just researched it.

As it’s not too dear, we’ll have a whip round. May be a while!👍

That new BSA is a mighty fine looking motorcycle Steve... I have to keep telling myself I really don't need a third bike!

Well Alan, in reality, none of is actually 'need' another bike / old Volvo.... but still nice to have a different choice of the mode of transport for the day.

Cheers

To quote the Arab chariot chap in Ben Hurr, “ one God , that I can understand, but one motorcycle, it is not civilised, it not GENEROUS!”

Of course it will work as it is, i was curious more than anything. There seems to be a growing band of people that use a little Threadlock when fitting Helicoils so the Helicoil has more chance of staying put if/when the thing that screws into it is removed for whatever reason.

There is not much chance of that helicoil going anywhere Dave

Default Type D OD Indicator

I think this is a re-purposed HWR switch, but it is simple and works fine. I decided not to use a latching relay and the tell-tale still just lights up when the switch is in the down position, rather than when the OD is actually engaged.

I took GAM for a little test drive and I'm pleased to say the system functions perfectly: OD will only engage in top gear now, as Mr Volvo had intended. I quite like the control switch as it is, but I may change the tell-tale (or maybe add a second one) to show when the OD is actually engaged.

Alan
I was thinking about the control and indication arrangement for the O/D today, and have decided I quite like the ex-HRW switch and tell-tale as fitted, but on balance it might benefit from an additional tell-tale to show when the O/D is actually engaged. I'm going to add an indicator light to the cct like this:

... and so have ordered some 8mm LED dashboard lights (less than a fiver for 5 different colours). It should be a simple job to run the spare brown wire I'd installed on the downstream side of the inhibitor switch to somewhere on the dash (or maybe the ex-HRW panel).
