Smile Vibration

Just bought a nice V50 1.6D stop start, 14k.
Happy but a couple of possible faults, i wonder if these are common or not:
1/ vibration runs through accelerator pedal @70mph, no wobble on steering wheel. Is this inherent with this diesel engine or could it be the wheels out of balance?
2/ clutch biting point very high. Worn or common with this car/ engine?
3/ fuel economy averaging at 55mpg, looks fairly ok but a lot of variation. Mostly 70mph runs with lots of roundabouts to slow down at, but little queueing. I have seen that taking the battery off for a short time may increase this. Daft or does it work???

First volvo i have owned, nice and comfy, good quality.

Any comments well received

No vibration from my car except when regeneration occurring at idle, ie in traffic.

I would check obvious wheels, tyres first before thinking of more complicated options.
