£10 and an afternoon or a few hundred quid? Hmmm.....
I've started a new thread now with the instructions and a few pictures if that's ok. |

Brilliant Kane! Thanks so much for that!! Exactly what I need (but never imagined someone would come along who's done it before and do me a complete write-up!!!)
Do you lose the volume control from the stereo/wheel too? Is maximum from the input device (Phone) loud enough? Too loud? (Not that I'd ever put it on max, what I mean is, if my phone happens to be set to max and I plug it in, does the amp play it at it's maximum volume!???!) Obviously there's no way of controlling what the amp does to the signal! Thanks a million! Legend! Last edited by BenB; Jan 2nd, 2012 at 18:59. |

If its at full volume and you plug it in there is a loud static sound which comes through the speakers.
You cant use volume control on dash or the wheel instead you must use the controls on the device. Luckily my samsung galaxy s has volume control on the side! To keep the quality it goes quite loud but not as loud as the standard stereo would allow. Do not think it will not be sufficient though. I find it more than enough for normal driving with enough room to crank it up if a good song comes on! lol After a while you get used to using it and plug your phone in before ignition and remove it after. NOTE - When using my technique the music stays on for 15 odd seconds after removing the keys from the ignition. This is due to a residual current left in the amp and you get kind of a soft off. Music quietens before going off. I have also tested my method for current leak which could possibly drain the battery and there are no issues. Let me know who is brave enough to give this a go and put my instructions to the test! It took a bloody long time to write up and I hope someone makes use of the knowledge. |

I'll certainly be giving it a go! I'll post up which solder points are which channel.
Looking at the Swedespeed thread, (here again) for the basic sound system, but including the rear amp (Known as 'Performance' unless I'm mistaken) they only use the pins from capacitors C625 and C626, not four channels like this method. Perhaps there is a location somewhere on the board that wouldn't require front and rear to be bridged?? I assume you loose the front/rear fader ability from the stereo completely once that's done? (Later in the Swedespeed thread are instructions for the Basic system without the amp if anyone needs it, about page 13 or so I think) I assume yours Kane, and mine, with the built-in 6 disc changer, is the Premium Sound System? |

It's a shame your photos are all of the taped up wiring, so we can't see which pin numbers you used. Would be really helpful to know which sound system you have and which pin numbers the channels are on.

As I say there are a number of different boards so mine wouldn't be the same. My board and the Sweedespeed one are clearly different for example. At least you know how to easily find the required solder points on which ever board you find in your car.
