Definitive Suspension Information
I know a frequent question is whether cars were originally fitted with Nivomat suspension. The answer lies in the product number on the VIN plate but many online translations of these codes are incomplete or uncertain.
Wanting to check this for the latest addition to my fleet I found the answer initially very elusive. The rear shock digit on the plate is H. The previous owner had queried it back in 2016 in another thread on here and ultimately came to his own conclusion. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=258610 However the opposite conclusion is presented here. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...69437&start=10 But I finally validated the answer on page 8 of this incredibly useful resource which presents the most comprehensive list of product codes to Volvo part numbers. http://www.myvolvolibrary.info/Tech_...ket.pdf#page=8 Fortunately, the previous owner of my car appears to have been right when he replaced the shocks back in 2016. Thought I’d share in case it helps anyone else researching similar in the future. |
