Default Instant fuel consumption question.

Hey, I am using 2008 V50 1.6D for almost 2 years and instant fuel consumption is my default gauge when I am driving. It temporary shows incorrect values and gets back to normal after after some time.

For example;

* car moves and I lift off gas pedal in gear: normally consumption was 0 after a second but now it shows 6-7lt/100km even after 3-5 seconds

* car moves and I lift off gas pedal in neutral: normally consumption was 1-2lt/100km but now it shows 8-9lt/100km

* same road same conditions: normally consumption was 4-5lt/100km now it shows 10-11lt/100km

This happened 3 times and first 2 fixed by re-start engine and last one fixed while driving.

Can I directly assume that MAF is failing and should I replace it? What can be the cause of this incorrect reading/calculation, do you guys have any idea? I can't think anything else, there is no power lost, no DPF regeneration process, no strange noise, car drives same, I mean there is no difference.
