I tackled the job of the two main mounts on my 2.4T5 last week. (id done the gearbox mount in the past and the other two were OK)

The FCP euro video was useful for me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA7qjGjg8Yc

the front mount was done without issue following the guide on youtube.

The rear mount was a bit more of a pain but still doable - removing the top nut was done by going in from the top of the engine with some long extensions and swivel adaptor.

For the bottom bolt, i couldnt get a combination of sockets and swivel adaptor through the gap between the subframe and ARB, so i ended up using a spanner and "reaching round" between the subframe and offside driveshaft (i was lying on my back under the car) - a ratchet spanner would have made this process much quicker as you can just about get 90degrees of movement at a time - again this was on a FWD car so plenty of space.
I did remove the tin exhaust/brake line cross-brace too for a bit better access but this likely wasn't necessary.

Another thing to watch out for is clearance when jacking the engine up - as my old mounts were so compressed, there was a noticeable size difference meaning i had to jack the engine up a fair bit more to get enough clearance to seat the new mounts, and depending on the location of your jack under the sump, the engine can hit the brake master cylinder on RHD cars.

I also had a minor issue with the engine shifting slightly so it wasnt aligned with the new mounts on coming back down which required a bit of brute force to get it back straight.

But - got there in the end - and it has made quite a big difference to NVH - the main mounts were likely the originals so 17yr old

A very timely post as I keep thinking about doing the front and rear hydraulic mounts on my 2.4t FWD. Sounds kike the rear is the tricky one which is what I thought having looked from underneath before...

Mine are definitely squished as the cable / wire rope around them is really baggy.

Im encouraged to hear they made a difference to NVH though! Would be rubbish to spend all that effort for minimal improvement

Just to follow up - had my front and rear hydraulic mounts replaced yesterday. It has made a big difference to NVH! I should have done them a while ago. All the mounts have been replaced now. Mine were not leaking but old and cracked and the wire rope was baggy so they had collapsed

Looks like replacing rear bottom mount for XC70 2006 AWD D5 136kw is quite a challenge, as I had not found any success stories documented online
There are some examples done on XC90 (https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=234709), but I guess they have more space to play ...

I was trying to replace mine yesterday. I managed to unbolt the mount but could not take it out. I will try again today, the plan is try these options
1) try to remove plastic air intake pipe
2) lower the frame
3) remove the steering column

will let you know what worked .. hopefully

I did not get around to doing mine last year for various reasons but going to tackle them shortly. Grateful for any further tips on the rear mount as it's clearly the problem child.

@vadiss - how did you get on with yours in the end?
