Default v70 with loss of power

hello,

i have got a v70 d5 2002 and sometimes when i put my foot down there is no boost at all, i will then give it 2-3 mins of normal driving and the boost comes back. if i gradually accelerate it seems ok, its just when i try to accelerate a bit faster. has anybody got any ideas ?

thanks
neil

Cool 2002 d5 no boost

My advice is to get/borrow a laptop and ODBC software & connector so you can see which fault codes occurr before power loss this will help you identify fault. I had to do this as Garage couldn't find fault each time I took it along.

1. Could be airflow meter (MAF) this is usually at fault and cuts power back as if non turbo engine LIMP Mode.
2. Give fuel overdose of millers dieselclean injector cleaner & thrash the life out of it up the bypass (after it's warmed up properly of course).
3.May be caused by sticking turbo resulting in overboost. If so 2 is best course of action unless you want to remove, clean & rebuild it.
4.You get a spray to spray in air intake to clean out any muck, only problem is build up of sticky tar caused by recirculating exhaust gas from EGR valve condensing on cold intake pipes. If this is the case you can clean out most of the build up if pipes are removed.
5. Check turbo hose isn't loose.

1. MAF --> 2. EGR --> 3.TURBO --> 4. Injectors --> 5. Sensor out of range!

good luck
