Default Weird indicator behaviour

I have a problem with the left indicator. It flashes but so do all the other lights, but out of phase with the indicator i.e. when indicator is on, other lights are out and vice-versa, that includes all lights at the rear except the RH indicator bulb.

I also hear a clicking in sync with the indicator. This is coming from around the fuse panel. Sounds like a relay.

RH indicator works fine. No clicking from the rear fuse panel.

When I switch the ignition off I sometimes get a message saying Rear 12V Socket in Use.

My initial though was that it's a short but I've checked the wiring and it all looks OK. The clicking points to a relay.

Any thoughts?

The most common reason for issues like this is a ground fault somewhere. Usually at the lamp cluster.

While you may well get some help here, you are in the wrong forum as XC70 from '07 onwards are dealt with here. (Unless you have a typo and it's really 2014!)
