Default D5 185bhp or 163bhp?

Hi new to the forum, and have just bought a 55plate s80 D5 lux, could somebody please tell me the difference between the 185 and the 163 bhp engines meaning how the increased power is achieved? is it just an increase in boost pressure and fueling as in a chip upgrade or what? many thanks Dave

No , the boost is the same it has been done properly by re-designing the head camshafts , new type injectors etc rather than just raising the boost pressure . There are a lot of mechanical differences ... there is more low Rpm torque up to 2000 rpm due to one set of inlet ports being blanked off under 2000 rpm to increase gas speed through the other set etc etc
