Quick question on this. I'm breaking a 98 Celebration and wondered if the matrix will be the same as my 96 ? I know valve is different as mine is non A/C and Celebration is A/C

Cheers

As far as i've always been aware Mark, the matrices for A/C and non-A/C have always been different. A quick phone call to Volvo might well confirm the answer but i'm fairly sure i'm right.
Worth saving the valve though in case yours fails, you can bypass the original and fit the A/C heater valve under the bonnet with a vacuum feed to it to close it in hot weather.

I’ve not encountered a problem, yet, with my Volvo but decades ago the heater matrix on my Marina failed. Based on the fact that it was simply a radiator I took it to a local back street radiator repair specialist who I had used in the past, and who had been in business at the same premises for years. He repaired it same day without a problem.
While I had the dashboard and facia removed I amended the windscreen wiper drive and moved the motor to the other side of the engine compartment so that the wiper sweep was reversed to be high on the driver’s side instead of leaving that large unswept area on the right hand side of the windscreen. Why BL had never addressed that I will never know.

Default AC vs non A/C

You can find several parts manuals on the internet, this is a good one: https://www.gcp.se/en/catalogues/mod...60-s90-v90-en/
According this manual the matrix for a non-A/C system is different from an A/C system (MCC and ECC systems share the same matrix model) There is also a difference between RHD and LHD cars, so there are four different models in total. There is no use in keeping a 96 non-A/C matrix in stock for an AC 98.

I was checking if the 98 A/C matrix will fit into my 96 non A/C car

It was something that plagued BL on many models Ian, 11/1300, Allegro, Maxi, Mini, Marina, various Triumph models and probably others i can't think of.
There have been many theories as to why/how it happened originally and why it was perpetuated but in short, they fitted LHD wiper set-ups to RHD cars and vice versa.
From the early/mid 80s, they got it right, perhaps Hondas influence seeing as the Japanese also drive on the correct side of the road like us.

It won't Mark, i was fairly sure from the parts list/drawing Rob supplied it wouldn't but it was in a foreign language that i dont understand (Dutch?) so couldn't decipher it. Either way no point keeping the matrix from your breaker for yours so another part for the "Sell Pile"!

This is probably too late to be of any use but I found Motorads very helpful and responsive (and very reasonable price-wise). This summer I fitted one of their heater cores to my V90 and it seems to work very well. http://www.motoradsonline.co.uk/prod...er-matrix.html
