Default gearbox whine

picked up a v50 1.6D 2009 (59) about 5 weeks ago from other threads have topped up the eloys tank, fitted new pads and disks all round , gave it a full service , next its time for a cam belt , but since i have owned it the gearbox in all gears has a whine always the same , so hoping due to its age an oil change may help may evan find its a bit low but has anyone else ever had this whine or looking worst case keep a look out for another box

I had a whine in gears 4&5 of a Renault that I used to run. Turned out that it was just low on gearbox oil caused by a very slow leak. I drained the gearbox and filled up with the correct amount of gear oil and problem solved. A gearbox oil change would be my first point of call with this problem given how cheap and easy it is to do.

only just got a chance to do the gear box oil change , the old oil was not too bad a bit brown in colour so it must have had a change at some point in its life , with new oil the whine is down but not gone , i will be checking the front bearings later next week so with luck it might be one on its way out
