Throttle Body
Daughter has a 2002 V40 Diesel that has just gave a loud pop and lost all power. Lifted the bonnet to find the throttle body has snapped at the flange where it bolts to the inlet manifold.
Is this a common failure? I have had the Turbo/intercooler pipes burst or come adrift at the clips on other diesels but never seen a throttle body snap! It looks an easy fix, 3 bolts and a clip. |

They do break from time to time. I guess they become more fragile as the years pass. Saying that, I have never heard of one snapping while the car was driving. I broke one when I was removing the hard plastic hose attached to it and I hardly used any force, as I have done the same thing many times before that.
Anyway, in case you are looking for one, it is actually called a shut-off valve
