Yes.. I agree its good to get things off your chest, that shows an openness which is altogether healthy.

I think you'd be surprised by the number of us out here who've gone through a similar set of events in our lives, and as I said in my last post its the measure of ourselves on how we come through them. Some things take longer to heal from than others though, and only the person going through those things knows the real deal in the quite times.

My therapy has always been keeping busy if possible, not manic.. ha ha, just not allowing time to brood. Not being too hard on oneself is also so important, as is counting those blessings which we all too easily take for granted.

Keep up the good work on your lovely old Volvo, the spring and lighter days are on their way, all will be ok.

Fantastic work. Its great to work on your own car, knowing that you've done it yourself, you know the parts you've used & saved a bit by doing it too! It also gives you the confidence to have a go again & that's what its all about.

Discussing personal issues in life is never easy. However, its really important to talk to let your feelings & emotions be shown & heard... Regardless of what people may think. You're part of a great community here, myself included. We may not know one another personally as members, although some may. However, the advice & help people give on here shows that people really do want to help, even if it is posting from a phone, laptop or pc & giving someone that helping hand, or advice from time to time.

I'm sure your car will be happy with her new oil etc... Once again, great work.

Malc-c, Yesterday, when I started to read your second paragraph, my immediate thought that this was all too familiar. Again, without going into detail, we have a family member who suffers from a form of OCD, so can really relate to what you say. For my part I have got used to running a procedure round and around in my head rather than just getting on with it, however this may be due a career in engineering where doing it the correct way was often vitally important from a safety aspect, but I do find as I get older I tend to do it more than I used to.

As for getting old and finding it sometimes a little off-putting to go outside and lay down on cold concrete, at 70+ I usually try and organise those jobs for the summer as getting down under the car is not too bad but it is the getting up again that is problematic, and particularly so when it is to get a tool that I forgot! Grrrrrrrrr.

Anyway, don't feel that you are alone out there. I'm sure that this site has more than it's fair share of older contributors who can relate to your situation. As the old BT advert used to say (was it Bob Hoskins?) "It's good to talk".
