On my 96 R pin 12 actually UNLOCKS the doors instead of locking them! Pin 10 does nothing. Did anyone ever figure out a way of making the doors lock without installing another actuator?

The unfortunate side effect of this is that the car will no longer centrally unlock with the key in the driver's door, but it will lock. It still works as normal from the passenger door. The two possibilities for dealing with this are to reconnect the blue/pink wire as before and find out which colour goes to the passenger door (where it doesn't matter so much if you can't centrally unlock from the key), or to fit a diode in the blue/pink wire. I'm going to try the diode solution.

Late into this thread. Some questions for the original poster (1995 850).
1) Pin 21 and 23 in the big RED connector is for the passenger side front door lock to trigger the lock (pin 21) and unlock (pin 23). Can we use Pin 22 in the big connector (driver side front door lock) instead for unlock ? 2) all the lock pins (front driver side, front passenger side and trunk/tailgate) are tight to each other before going back to the pin 21 of the big RED connector. Only unlock pin of these doors are going back to the two different big connectors with different pin number. Thanks, Ching-Ho Cheng |

Hi,
In your posted to retrofit the central door lock switch in 1995 and later 850, you stated that the unlock pin connection was changed from pin 47 to pin 23 in the 24/2 big connector for 1995 850. Why was the reason behind the change of unlock pin connection ? I am trying to follow your instruction to retrofit this switch in my 1995 850 (no sunroof) wagon in USA. As you mentioned, there is a white connector behind a blank switch cover next to the TRAC switch. I could use that for the central lock switch. Regards, Ching-Ho Cheng |
