Default Spacd Saver Wheel Confusion

Hi Volvo Community

I have a S60 CC with 19 inch alloys

Looking to buy a space saver and surround and have found a supplier online with official volvo spares

The tyre offerered is a 17inch space saver buy described as the only option for a S60/CC

Will it fit my car?

Also could any s60 drivers advise on how much room is lost within the boot space when the tyre and surround are in place. Does the floor raise by much more?

With the space saver kit fitted you're left with about 12" of space from the lower side of the rear parcel shelf to the boot floor. You're left with two channels either side of the space saver to store umbrella's and other small items.

It's hammering it down here at the moment, I'll get the tyre size and a pic for you later when it eases off.

Edit: Measured at the side, the step from the old boot floor to the new is around 12cms. Given the tyre is 125/80R17 the depth at the centre of the boot floor must be slightly more, I can't remember if there was a small stowage space under the old boot floor.
The measurement from the spacesaver boot floor to the bottom of the rear parcel shelf is now 37cms.

Not sure if the shape is the same, but I purchased the whole kit for my MY2011 S60 D5. As stated above it came with a new boot 'floor' panel. I quite like it, although our suitcases don't fit (One only in the boot-even without the spare! Wife doesn't travel light!!). It was only available as a 17 inch, possibly because of the boot recess (doesn't fit the whole wheel and tyre) on the car. The kit does come with a jack and brace. Also has spaces for the gunk pump (I kept mine) and other bits and bobs. It looks very good too. You do lose the space but you gain the ability to drive away from a puncture!

What price peace of mind?

Will it fit the car? AFAIK......

it’s the overall rolling circumference of the wheel and tyre combination that matters, not the rim size, as in any aftermarket wheel change. (Obviously the stud pattern, but that’s assumed to be OK).

And the rules covering temporary wheels allow for two different wheels on the same axle, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

Hope this helps.

Only one suitcase in the boot? My hardtop C70 does that, plus bits, with the top down!!

It doesn't matter what size the car when you're married the boot will get filled.
It's a game of Tetris when we head for home from anywhere whether we take the S60 with or without the roofbox, the Focus without roofbox or grand C-Max with roofbox.
I reckon if I had a 9 seater Transit and took out four seats I'd still need the roofbox.

Think I may need to be prepared for a reduction in boot space, but probably worth it.

That said my S60 at the moment can hold around the same sort of things as my previous V50 did, it's not bad for space, despite being a saloon.

And thanks for all the great feedback, apologies for my typing mistakes too!
