  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Sounds like you've made your decision!

Are they auto or manual - I think the VEA auto's have the 8-speed box as well (5-cylinder have 6 speed).

The D4 engine has a balancer shaft, which makes the engine far smoother than the D3. Also, as others have indicated, the D4 has an 8-speed automatic gearbox. All in all, the D4 is a more powerful and refined beast.

Going against every grain in my ethic of D5, keep the D4. This is where the d5 turns into a money pit, where its previous owner didn't take care of it and now its "someone else's problem".
If you were inclined to give the d5 the time and money, you'd have a lovely engine, but burning oil? Personally I think that it's going to be out the back of the dealership, on ebay "spares repairs bargain".

You could reject both cars, get your money back and start again.
