Default '13 V70 D5 - Ticking noise on start-up

Some advice please;

First noticed a couple of months ago, mainly because the window was down (summer), a very slight ticking noise when the engine started, usually disappears within a few hundred yards / half mile max.

Being honest, I didn't think anything of it but its now gradually getting louder - a high pitched metallic ticking noise, that increases speed with engine revs, it still disappears after a short distance.

Popped the bonnet, sounds to me as though its coming from the pulley area or possibly the alternator, AC pump, PS pump?

Full Volvo timing belt kit & aux pulleys & belts fitted approx 10,000mls ago.

Car is coming up on 103,000miles.

Just wondering if its anything common that anyone is aware of?

Thanks

I'm probably stating the obvious, but the symptoms you describe are typical of hydraulic tappets building up oil pressure?

Thanks for that, but its not the tappets. Definitely from the RHS end of the engine. Definitely pulley/ or pump/alternator related.

Planning to disconnect the Aux belts & check every item that spins, lol

Mine has been doing this for a while too... not gotten bad enough to be able to find it yet. I did have the aux belt screech at me after the car had sat in the sun all week without being moved, hasn't done it again yet....

Found it - AC Compressor! Think its the clutch on the AC pulley wheel.

Started the engine cold........was ticking away. Turned off the AC......gone.

Tested it driving also, AC on - ticking / AC off - quiet.

I see AC compressor clutch kits are available, I'll put another post up to see if anyone has fitted these or whether they just fit a new compressor?
