Default 940 Brakes

Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well. Does anyone know a mechanic in the Slough area who has worked on older Volvos before and who can be recommended, to check a brake problem?

Thanks,
Rob

I cannot answer your question about mechanics as I don’t live anywhere near you, BUT,
if you post details of your car and the problem I’m sure someone on this forum will be able to advise.

Like Ian says, knowing the symptoms would be helpful, it might not even be a brake problem.

There are a couple of Volvo specialists down the M3 which would be suitable, but the 940 is an older car and I would have thought any good independent garage would be able to help.

The 7/9xx range have plenty of quirks that can cause the unwitting general garage to royally mess things up Chris. Misdiagnosis is the least of the trouble then! It's a sensible move to try and find an independent Volvo specialist although even they can make mistakes - i've corrected several on my 760 for example.

Caliper disc brakes haven't changed that much since the 940 was produced so any reputable garage would be fine.

Maybe not but depends which calipers, discs and pads are on the OPs car, whether it has ABS or not and whether it is in fact a brake problem.

So, robp252.
You have our attention. It’s down to you now to provide details of your car and the problem you have.
