Quote:
That could be seen as a negative impression IMO so is that why you didn't buy it? or were you just tyre kicking. |

aha i detect a note of sarcasm i dont drive nearly 200 miles to kick tyres, i have been looking for a nice amazon for a long time now, for nearly £11,000 you would expect a really good car.

Life makes you cynical and I'm only trying to get to the facts on this Volvo 131 story, you still haven't come clean with your observations on a car that looked a million dollars.
I'm curious to know what was wrong with it as it clearly was going to fetch a good price looking at the pics. Good to see the tyre kicking comment produced a result and very pleased to hear you were serious about the purchase, obviously the car will reappear sooner or later.......................so .......what was it like???? c'mon 57 Paul spill the beans to fellow Volvo Members. i hope i dont offend the buyer of the volvo 131 and this is just my opinion. the photos on ebay were VERY,VERY flattering, the car had been painted,in places still all over windscreen rubber, etc the underside freshly painted over dried mud etc where they could reach with a black sticky paint, boot floor corroded, leaking petrol tank, various seals leaking on axle, diff etc, the engine bay was very tidy, various other bits and pieces like i said this is just my opinion and peoples idea of good condition vary

Thanks 57paul, I'm sure the buyer will form his own opinion of the car and if sensible will take a well researched person with him to give him the piece of mind needed.
These cars are already legends in their own time but are being exploited by "quick buck" guys who are using the enthusiasts market without a care for the genuine buyer. Many dealer types jump on the bandwagon and ruin it for genuine folk. It happens to us all at some point no matter what marque it is, I've gone hundreds of miles with a trailer based on info from some rose tinted spectacled seller. And before I have left his premises he usually gets told !! Good luck with the search............ |
