Default HID Conversion and starter motor?

last week my V50 wouldn't start, just clicking, volvo assistance towed it off and it got the starter motor replaced at the dealer.

The car drove 6 miles and the next morning again it wouldn't start. Volvo assistance came back out and showed that the starter was yet again inactive. He checked the relay and the starter earth and they both came back as fine. Battery condition also fine.

the only modification to the car is a hids4u HID conversion, which has been working fine in the car for about 3 months.

Is there any possible way this kit could be frying my starter motor? I've heard of problems with the wiper motor but never the starter.

To clarify, my HID kit is earthed to the suspension strut (middle screw), not through the headlight wiring loom via a homemade earth cable and my DRL's are de-activated from the dealer.

Please help me to hopefully rule this out.

I couldn't say for sure but I would find it very hard indeed to believe that HIDS would cause the starter to fail.

thats what I thought as the lights aren't physically coming on until I turn them on, after the engine is started, plus if there was a problem it wouldn't take 3 months to surface and then happen twice in the same week.

Only thing I could think of is if the starter motor shares an earth on the strut and its somehow frying the earth in the same way as the wiper motor does.

Sounds more like a nearly dead battery... The earthing of the starter isn't at the top there. Instead it has a direct connection to the car and battery...
