87 EGR system and distributer plug

hi all
tim has nentioned rmoving his egr system, i must admit it looks a mess
on mine one or two bodge ups on the pipework- an accident waiting to happen, what sort of a job is it?can it be done with the head on, i'm a reasonable mechanic,

colin uk from the us site has been kind enough to get me the distributer plug number. 1346793 nmi. i would check this plug as a matter of course

ps still havent got round to sorting the heater out would someone with a good heater please confirm that the temp guage should read half scale or more or less vertical?

The EGR can be removed without lifting the head. The temp gauge should go up to 12 o'clock and stay there.
