Default Climate control seems to be o/c

This happened on my previous 90 too. The climate control function seems to have given up the ghost on my car. It used to be that with all settings on auto it would automatically increase or decrease the fans speed to get to the desired temperature and when this happened it would then quieten down again - adjusting again if the cabin temperature changed.

Now it doesn't even sound like it's working. I have to switch on the rapid defrost button to get it to work or manually twiddle with the rotary dial - anyone else have this issue?

I don't use mine on auto any more as it always seems to run with the fan on too high for too long - so I get fed up waiting for it to step down and adjust it manually.

Maybe I should leave it to see if there is a problem ?

As an aside - I also don't understand why the fan lights don't change as the auto programme turns the fan up or down - they only work if I over ride the auto setting and change the fan's speed myself.

Your dealer can adjust the behaviour of airflow and fanspeed in auto mode if you're not happy with it...

Also the fan light is ment to go off. If you are having issues try cleaning the little grill on the unit as there is a small fan in there that draws air in to the sensor and when I got mine it was choked with dust etc.

Hi...thanks so much for this tip. My AC had got to the point of either cold or hot only with no response in between....just been out and cleared the fan that you refer to and full working order again. Wonder how much a dealer would have charged for 15 mins work!! Thanks again.

I removed the climate control [cc] unit in front of the gear lever and took the little fan off the back...cleaned that and then cleaned the grille through the whole left by the fan. If you disconnect the CC unit be sure to disconnect the car battery first otherwise I think you may l get error codes coming up on reconnection of CC unit.

That's how I did mine but I was also fitting my dension unit at the same time. You can try doing it with the hover as that's how I have done it on other cars
