Default Air suspension ‘convenience’ mode

Will soon take ownership of a new R-Line with air suspension. Does use the convenience feature ie lowering of the suspension each time engine is stopped to aid access cause undue wear and tear or is it best to leave it in Comfort mode all the time to prevent expensive suspension issues in due course - any experiences/insights please?

I left it in comfort mode, since all the rising and lowering will engage moving parts that surely have wear.

But hey, I'm treating my XC60 like it was made of the same material as the gear knob.

The wear on suspension parts when suspension lowers when parking etc must be so nominally its not worth mentioning compared to everyday running on the uk roads.
If you really are that worried you should have stuck to sprung suspension.

Another one of those questions that only time will tell, I have mine set in easy access mode from day one to make it easy for my wife to get in and out and have wondered the same thing, but I have it so I use it, expecting Volvo have tested the suspension to destruction and hope it is up to the job and materials have improved since early discovery days.

I’m definitely not ‘that worried’ in fact not at all worried, just looking for helpful insights/experiences from those already using the system. Have had air suspension very successfully on my Touareg although no auto ‘convenience’ option on that car.

Sorry if I caused offence, but I was just trying to differentiate between the sharp shocks going through the suspension driving on our UK roads, to the gentle movement of suspension joints when lowering after parking.

Thanks bobby and no offence taken, you make a fair point. I have found air suspension to be excellent when towing our 2000kg caravan so that will also give the suspension system a ‘work out’ although dont tow caravan often (enough )

Also car looks so much better parked on lower setting.

Great info Deman77, thx for posting. I totally agree they look fab when parked and lower. Also it does make it easier to get in and out i am sure.
I am leasing this car for 4 years. Will be under warranty for 3 of course but always have my North eye on the 4th year when any repairs may be at my own expense (unless Volvo are renown for favourable gestures once warranty is out - as long as a fsh?)
