Keep scanning eBay, Autotrader and Gumtree and one will appear

My 'new' 240 was from an ad on Guntree. I found it within a week of starting the search.

Smile Daily driver.

I to use my 240 as a daily driver. Very practical vehicle, will seat four adults comfortably. Carry the groceries with room to spare fora large family. If it's an estate will swallow more junk with ease than any other estate you can find. Very easy cars to work on, both to service and repair. When it comes to mpg, the old adage is the cheapest thing you will put in a car is petrol.

Turbo swapped LPG 240 estate as my only car here. Is and always will be my daily. Used to do 25k a year

Its quicker than 80% of cars on the roads
Its on LPG so costs the same to run as a 45mpg car
Gets smiles and comments everywhere
Lugs furniture and car parts all over the country
Is great fun and characterful
and it still goes to all the car shows and gets respect.

I bought an '86 245 for $1600 CAD and sold it 2 years later for $3960 CAD. Granted I put in the work to get it and keep it solid, but a big thumbs up on the non depreciation of these great cars.

Get a nice shell.
Engines are easy to swap later when you are settled in, as it were.
A Torslanda would be fine though some of the last ones were real rotters.
We use a 79 260 estate as a daily driver and find it more practical than any modern estate.
Electronic ign is a good idea, and we are happy with a 230A engine/M46 overdrive transmission. The old six pot was seized, before the grizzles start!
I'd buy a new 245 if I could.
Anything else is just a blob.

Daily driver here as well. 2.3, was 4 speed, now 5. Carb version too, 30mpg easy to get.
Mine is 27 years old this week, still hardly any rust.

If (when) something breaks, take it out and bang a new one in, if you don't know how the guys on here do.

As Arnie would say, 'DO IT! C'MAN, DO IT!'

or possibly 'GED TO THA CHOPPA!', but that's less relevant.

Cheers,

Cap
