I get about 29mpg towing a 1700kg van.
Tail winds improve this but headwinds can take it down to 25mpg. I set the cruise to 53mph which is a good speed for me and allows the trucks to overtake easily

With my current car (until today) I get 25mpg and on a really good day 27mpg , Freelander 2 2.2.
I tow a bailey unicorn 4 Cadiz, so I’m hoping for nearer 30mpg as it’s not the heaviest van in the world. |

Xc70 2wd D5 with polestar. 195 bhp
Caravan 1650 kg coachman. Tow 450 miles to Scotland twice a year, am 3 hours from motorways and once on the M53 tend to maintain 60mph towing. Have seen as little as 23mpg and as much as 31 mpg dependant on head wind or tail. Solo around 41/42 around the doors and as much as 58 mpg crusing at 70 on motorway with light load Afraid it is what it is for me, I want to get there and while not going to kill myself do not want to be hanging around, so when the guage reads low ( between half and quarter tank in my case) the car gets filled. for me, S90 D5 AWD with Polestar, though towing a 1800kg double axle, about 24mpg on mainly motorways. Though I struggle to keep below 70mph ...

Thanks guys, i towed my bailey Cadiz for the first time today. It was only a short journey of an hour (30 miles) , I got 25mpg , it was difficult to find the sweat spot without breaking the law . The car just wanted to go & go. I’ve towed the same sort weight of van for 20yrs with 3 landrover Freelanders and 2 Ford galaxys , this was by far the most comfortable & powerful tow if ever had.
I had to put 600 miles on the clock before towing so we went out for a few long runs to the Lake District and the like and averaged 44mpg. To say the least I’m really impressed by this car.

Well reading all these figures makes me very jealous, I tow a Bailey Unicorn Segovia with my 22yo V90 3.0l petrol, all I can get is 15-16mpg towing, 23-24 solo!
