Default TD 6146 radio does not retain memory settings

Hi,
My radio TD 6146 does not retain stored radio channels when switched off and on again, i.e. ,memory is cleared.

I have checked the wiring and the green cable has permanent + 12 volts, so this should energize the memory to retain the settings...but it does not.

Ground is ok and the rest of cables like: remote on, 12 v when ignition on, etc. works fine.
Radio works fine except this issue.

Any ideas?

A fuse in the radio itself?

Have you actually tested the fuses, preferably under load? I've known many fuses that look good but have a hairline crack in them, almost invisible to the eye.

The next option then is to substitute a known good working radio to see if the fault persists with that or if it goes. I'm assuming here that it is the original radio for the car and not one that has been bought as original equipment and fitted back in the car to make it original? If so is the original wiring still how it should be?

RAM / Flash RAM failure in the radio

Given the age of the radio, replacement with another 2nd hand unit will be easier than repair.

Highly probable and the same conclusion i came to before suggesting trying a known good replacement.
