Help us by saying what year the car was made

Big differences in prefacelift and facelift

Check for fluid leaks, take for a run and make sure no rattls and Clonks., but you would do this on amyy car as you probably know.

Lay next to car with head forward of the rear wheel and grab the propshaft and try and turn it. If you can, the awd will not be working, very common on this my. Use this to get the price down as will cost of new spline gear £140 and potentially the transfer box, another £400 sh plus labour unless you fix yourself.

As gearbox oil changed, was there a reason for this as many have gearbox problems which may have led to oil bring changed.. Make sure you test drive up to 60mph and no poor changes up and down and no shudders.

I would also check on.line for recent mot history.

To me the bodywork and interior is important but make sure the carpets are not damp in the footwels, especially if a sunroof is fitted.

Make sure you have at least an extra £1000 for early problems.

You will see at least three threads on same question in last year alone so happy reading and good luck with your new purchase and welcome to this forum.

Hope this helps.

A 54 plate implies MY05. Its the UK system of registration numbers, 54 being late 2004- early 05.

Check under the car to ensure that rear propshaft is still there, as if they have had a problem with the Haldex 4 wheel drive system some owners remove the prop instead of fixing the problem. The car will still drive but with front wheel drive only and unsuspecting buyers end up with a pup.

As with the above, lights on the dash, particularly anti skid service.

I think the fact he has said it’s a May 2004 model xc90 with -130k probably gives it away buddy. Diesel.

Do you want his inside leg measurement

FWIW, he wrote: "...54' plate xc90 d5"

To me, an American, outside of it being an XC90, the rest means absolutely nothing but jibberish - as I'm sure it does to many other people not in Europe or who do not understand the Euro plate system.

Our passenger car license plates do not indicate the model year of the vehicle and can be attached to any passenger car of any year or make.
