Ah ok mine is hybrid so silent and when I get out sometimes I catch it still lowering and hear the compressor - never heard it on an LR car before!

I held off on Polestar because, as above, I wasn't sure what the before and after would be like. And it may be something I add later if (when) I get bored!

I take what you mean about the handling but in my old age (over 40) and with a newborn I've decided to leave that bit of my life behind me
Yeah the handling is still decent but its not quite up there with LR cars - might be a T8 thing only though as you can feel the power through the front wheels - maybe the other Volvo AWD cars distribute the power differently?

I can't even tell if I've got the Polestar nothing to tell you beyond the badge they stuck on the back! Oh and the £750!!!

Not complaining and overall pretty happy to have made the change - JLR are in a bit of a rut at the moment and they are making the pricing up as they go along!

T8 can be a bit of a hooligan at times, I managed wheelspin at 50mph last week (well, the modern equivalent ASR activation!) by flicking from pure to power and flooring it for an overtake...that’s about as much fun as I get driving these days!

As long as thats normal thats good then lol. You can definitely feel it through the steering.

Apparently there's a Polestar mode now with the Polestar option, does anyone know anything about that?

"To get the most out of the Polestar Engineered Optimisation software, we strongly recommend you to add our optional drive mode selector. "

2) Is it normal even with decent Michelin tyres to have a bit of wheel slip here and there? Doesn't do it in some modes does in others?
-Yes because with the Polestar optimization there is more thrust on the rear wheels.

3) I set the suspension to automatic lowering when you park it, you can hear something going on near the boot area quite noticeably - is this normal on XC60s/Volvos for the air suspension?
-Yes, you have an option on your configuration settings that lowers the suspension automatically to allow an easier boarding onto the SUV. Look it up on the comfort settings.

4) Got the OnCall stuff all setup and put a SIM in the car seems to be sort of working so that's s cool!
I didnt put an additional SIM on my car and the OnCall works fine

5) Got the standard Inscription Pro 20" wheels on the car, bit crashy around London - guessing the 22" would make it infinitely worse? Does power mode stiffen the suspension as well (which is what I've got selected).
Bigger rims more less tire protection. Big rims on an SUV is a big mistake in my opinion, not to mention the tire price gap. You can buy 4 20" tires for the price of 2 22".

6) Sensus connect can be a bit touch and go, locks up a bit etc, is there a way to see what version I'm on and to know the latest version?
-Go to software updates but i can tell you that when you start up the car i noticed you have to wait around 1 to 2 minutes to have the system working properly

Thanks guys, another question, in Power or AWD mode it is keeping the electric motor in use constantly I guess, does charging the battery to use the electric motor take a penalty on the available engine power?

Also I read somewhere the electric motors stop working at a certain speed altogether to limit damage, is that true and if so how would that work for the above two modes?

Thanks!

The rear motor, RWD is in constant use in AWD and Power mode, if you have charging on it will reduce the power a little, like having AC on but worse.
Charging will reduce power and use more fuel in any mode, but I tend to try and only use charging when going down hill, then it is pretty efficient.
I use Hold if I want to keep a charge for later, using hold is quite fuel efficient as well, as when off the throttle and going slow, pulling away it uses the battery first, assuming you are light on the throttle .

I have never known my RWD motor to stop working, especially related to speed, but tbh I have not really used AWD or Power for long periods of time in the near 12k miles I have done in the car, but in theory there is an overheat cut out on most electric motors to stop windings from melting etc. which resets, I do not know if this is true of the motor on the T8's

Well I just took delivery of mine and I'm beginning to get to grips with it. It is quite a large vehicle but I suspect you get used to that after a few weeks (admittedly coming from a Skoda Fabia) but I do wonder how the XC90 crowd manage - the 60 seems to stick out of many parking spaces!

Initial impressions seem very good, looks well built, nice ride although not "sporty" by any means. Perhaps my main complaint is that it feels a little too smooth - 50 / 60 /70mph comes very quickly with the c400hp but it just doesn't feel very fast.....

I've managed to charge it once - to about 75%. A 9 mile (4.5 mile each way trip with half on pure, half on hybrid) seemed to eat 50% of battery. About right or a little worse than expected? I suspect the battery may take a while to bed down also....

I run mine in power suspension mode all the time, but in the individual mode I have set up.
It is fast I can assure you
I found the size not a problem at all, compared to my previous GAL, as it is boxy, it is easy to drive and park, with 360 as well.

You have an awesome car.
Regarding battery performance, you will notice some issues that may be related to the fact that the car is brand new. You have to do a full charge more than once to see the full extent of the battery.

Does anyone have any idea of the license plate sizes for UK cars?

Is it standard 520x111 for both plates?

Thanks!
