Just been to see a 14 plate f56 mini one, bottom of range, very few driver aids etc and loved it. Shall wheels, no fancy stripes, only negative was no cruise control but not a deal breaker. Go back Wednesday once garage have chased up it's service history, for a drive and to discuss dreaded payments.

@ThomasG, you know thinking through your (the) issue with modern lights and the potential safety issues. I think the newest generation LEDs are probably going to alleviate the issue, ironically through further technological development.

The shadow technology headlights don't dip in the conventional sense where badly adjusted lights will still blind. They blank out the area of the oncoming car completely and hence, as far as I can see, do not dazzle.

As I have said go try them, don't just dismiss technology offhand.

true enough, and i will surely check these out.

question will (still) be- how many cars will be fitted with these?

will it alleviate problem with cars already on the road?

it looks almost as manufacturers treat roads and drivers as some "testing ground"

anyway- i didnt dismiss the lights, not even the dazzlers. i`d like to have them.
but with manual override

and as for me- removing that was mistake bigger than volvo stating that gearbox oil will not need to be changed

Hopefully you will be impressed.

Eventually all hopefully, it'll be a while though. It's probably 50/50 between the lights being acceptable first and technology making driving redundant.

Of course not, might not even sort the issue when the lights go on to dip beam due to volume of traffic?? Some more technological development needed.

No doubt, to be fair it is the only way to test things properly. There will always be unseen issues show up through time. The question is whether there is sufficient testing done before release?

I know exactly what you mean, however the manual override sort of defeats the purpose. We would then just get the brain disengaged running around with the lights overridden. As long as they work being auto is a better option. BTW the shadow technology can be switched off, in fact it has to be switched on. The car can be driven simply with dip and full beam being manually changed.

V70/S80/S60 aisin autobox

"gearbox oil will not need to be changed within life of the car, unless car is used as taxi or for towing"

many treated is as "filled once, never change"

what wasn`t said was definition of "life of the car"- for manufacturer it would be guarantee period, and yes- within that time the oil wouldn`t need changing.

how many is there with over 200k on the clock, still original oil and gearbox issues?
gearbox cost by itself is enough to send car to scrap even if all the rest is functioning "spot on"

all because misleading message from manufacturer

Oh, that is a rather bold assertion, that, TBH, I don't think will be quite right.
