Default Optimate 4

I have an optimate 4 smart charger which I use for keeping my MX5's battery tuned up over winter. Given the fact that my V70 D5 2.4 has been stood idle for some weeks due to our current restrictions, I am keen to keep the battery from going flat.

My question is, does anybody use an optimate 4 to keep the much bigger battery on the volvo charged? It is marketed as a car/bike charger but i'm unsure if it's up to the job.

thanks.

I have the Optimate 4 for my bikes and have used it several times for car batteries.
With a 0.8A maximum, it takes much longer on larger capacity batteries but is still up to the job.

Thanks for the reply. I've ordered the lead that bolts onto the battery terminals, and has a waterproof socket that can sit just outside the battery box.

Just got to tackle undoing the battery leads now to fit it - always makes me a bit nervous with a big battery!!

Negative lead off first, cover negative lead contacts with a cloth, done.

Key thing to check is that the charger is suitable for an AGM battery which the V70 has. The Optimate 4 is suitable for this type of battery.
