Default Breakdown

After a 24 hour 1500 mile one hit stint from southern Spain, I needed LPG at Winchester (desperately), went in, no Gas Grrr! Back out onto the A34 and the gas turned off, run out, so did the petrol. Cruise to a stop on the greenery. Sputtering starts. Checked the schrader valve on the fuel rail.....fuel but no pressure. pump stopped. Checked fuses and relay.....no brrrrp from the pump.
Is it accessible from the top of the tank or is it a tank drop job...assumimng that is where it is! I'll whack it with a hammer if need be!
Good job it wasn't in France at the weekend!

If you lift up the rear seat, you should find an access panel for the petrol pump !

When you eventually get home, you can remove the pump and check the wires for the fuel gauge. Check specially in the solder points and if you have a soldering iron, reflow the solder. Just make sure it's bone dry of any fuel

Thanks gatos. Yes a good move.

With twin tanks you have no idea of the genuine quantity of fuel in your tank.
Locally my gas tank will do 160 miles. Out on the motorway I can do 300m plus! The petrol side of it is usually irrelevant. I got caught out this time.

I am content that this has actually cost me nuffink!
