It's a good job I didn't discover this site earlier as I'd still be dithering over the choice to this day. I want them ALL!
Hmm, perhaps i shouldn't add this site in that case!

Found it some time ago when i was looking for some fabric to re-cover some dodgy seats in a potential purchase before the vendor disappeared up his own central orifice!
Thought it would come in useful one day so kept it in my bookmarks.

Out of curiosity DWM, can you remember the dimensions of the headlining please?

Actually, the head lining from a 900 would prove a better idea to MDF or hardboard as it is already cut to fit, in shape and in one piece.
It is also likely to be quite a bit lighter!

I'm afraid I measured it only roughly (waving a tape measure around in the car park outside Cotswold Fabrics in Burford!). I reckoned the board was approximately 240 x 120 cm.

I bought two and a half metres length and it was enough. I was worried about the width. There seemed to be a lot of cheap fabrics that were 135cm wide, but in the shop they looked worryingly as if they might be a tiny bit too narrow. The stuff I actually bought was 150cm wide. I did have some to trim off after allowing for folding a bit round the back but I'm not sure I had as much as 15cm spare. Probably a neat and careful person could manage with 135cm but I was glad of a bit more to play with.

I had sort of guesstimated at 5' x 9' or 1.5m x 2.7m in new money, so wasn't too far out. Certainly gives me something to work with anyway, thanks.

Des - good idea, i'll bear it in mind and have a look next time i visit my local breakers. Gives me at least 2 excuses for a hobble round the yard!
