Default Crackling sound

Hi all. I have the hu803 head unit with centre speaker and I get a crackling and popping noise when the Grom starts and also with some music but not all of the time. I think it might be related to the volume level of the iPhone. If the phone volume is cranked up it pops and carries on but if the volume is lower no problems.

I’ve just spent a fortune on new speakers thinking the speakers were blown.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Could you be overdriving the grom unit?

What happens if you turn the phone down, so it presents a lower signal to the grom and turn the car radio up to send a higher signal to the amplifier.

When I fitted a Grom to another V70 we had issues with where it was extremely quiet and would pop and crackle as the levels were so high to get it to work correctly.
I can’t remember for the life of me what we changed but it was some jumpers on the Grom unit that needed configuring correctly, I do remember we contacted Grom and they posted us some jumpers and instructions on where/how to fit them.

Might be worth contacting them, they were very accommodating and knew what the issue was quickly
