iPhone Tethering not working anymore
Hello guys, maybe someone can help me here. I am used to tethering with my iPhone almost flawlessly, I got in the car and the data(internet) and phone connections are made automatically without me doing anything - always through bluetooth and I never tried through wi-fi at the time.
But now it has been a couple of months that I can’t connect anymore (I use mainly for Spotify). The Globe icon does not appear anymore. Not even with the diagonal dash over it. I have tried everything, Sensus is updated, I tried to connect via CarPlay (it works) and went back again, nothing. I can’t connect via wifi also. The reseller also could not find a way but his iPhone worked! I guess it started since my wife tried to connect her iPhone and did not succeed. I already have another new iPhone and nothing has changed. Am I missing any trick? Thanks! |

Communication
Hi Schreiner,
I’ve had this problem a few times after the car has been in for servicing. Have a look at Communication; Car modem Internet and make sure to tick the box to select to use the car modem as Internet connection. I suspect the dealer resets things after software updates, etc. Hope this helps

We need to know what car he has and its model year as the solution may vary.
He wants to tether his phone, not use the onboard modem.

Since I had carplay installed it has been problematic (but it worked fine before)
I always use a lightning cable to connect as well. The way I have found to get round it is on the iPhone go to Settings Personal Hotspot (then leave that page open) plug the phone in, let it go to sleep and it tethers just fine. (the little green icon in the top left comes on) There is something about the way Volvo implemented Carplay that seems to stop the connection, which is a pain if you want to use the Volvo Satnav with RTTI or to download updates when on the move. Hope that helps |
