My experience with the remote is that, as supplied, its only effect was to crash the system. After a software update, it worked ok if you pointed it directly at the receiver area on the console, but is very patchy otherwise. In practice, backseat passengers have to be determined to use it and take the trouble to hold it pointing through the gap between the front seats.

Just bought a V40 SE Lux Nav MY14. After trying replacing the batteries I worked out that the remote would only work with the engine running! Perhaps to avoid draining the battery with a DVD playing?!

My previous V50 came with a remote but thankfully also had nav controls on the back of the steering wheel. Does the V60 have the same?

The tennis worked well but was only really necessary if a passenger wanted to do anything with the nav

I got my S60 just over a week ago, 2013 lux nav model, just saw about the remote in the manual, I didn't get one with the car, should I have or is it an optional extra?

Thanks

Andy

Is there actually any point to the remote unless you have rear screens?! Mine stays in the armrest cubby, never being used.

I had a remote with a V60 SE Lux that I owned for 4 years, but never used it (other than trying it out when I first got the car). I wasn't impressed. It was very hit and miss, and you had to be precise in pointing it at the sensor. However, I should imagine it could be useful for rear seat passengers who can't otherwise access the media controls.

That's where mine lives. Normally only me in the car as well not had any cause to use the RSE either.
