Default Windscreen washer water level indicator

My washer water ran dry and the indicator showed on the dash. I filled the water and the indicator still showed. I have tried to switch it off but it still comes back on. I have drained the water and removed the level sender which looked OK. Anyone had this problem?

Are you able to get the full 6.5 litres in, or does it overflow much sooner which could indicate a blockage in the filler neck?

Sorry for the delay. The tank is full and when I took the sender out there was not dirt in the tank.
