58 plate V70 D5 R-Design. This year it had cost me £107 for one tyre and £285 for a service including oil change, coolant change and pollen filter, so £392 in total.

Next year will be a bit pricier as on top of regular service I'll need;
Brake fluid change
Front brake pads
Rear brake and discs
Air filter
Fuel filter
Possibly new CV gaiter, if mechanic can't tighten the clip enough to stop a small leak

Got my petrol v70 170 about a year ago and done over 25k purchase price £2300 at 140k
So far new steering angle sensor 350
2 new tyres 180
2 wishbones and adjustment of rear brakes on mot 400
Jobs done by me 3 oil changes plugs air filter cabin filter brake fluid fuel filter and renewed coolant all myself about 200
So £1130 in all plus £2300 purchase £3430 in all. Not too bad in my book as I tend to be over cautious in my approach and could have got saved 300/400 in all but I want this thing to last me as it is just so damped comfy and drives like a dream. Toured Europe this year with no ill effects or back/hip pain that I used to get in my vectra
No regrets.
Oh forget fresh auto gear oil and power steering fluid approx 60 on top

First 12 months - £50 - mot and light bulbs
Second 12 months - £100 so far, mot, more bulbs, oil change etc.
Very pleased with that, smug even, the 850 is over 20 years old.

Running Volvo isn't cheap. Running a Ford Fiesta 700 miles a week is much cheaper.

Until you have that major smash that's coming down the tracks, all of a sudden Volvo is very cheap to run.

Good luck

68 months resulted in fewer than 60 responses. I tried reading all.
Only a few actually approached the status of usable data.
Way too many cited "first year expenses" as per annum amount.

Here's a case where a form would help. Alas, filling it out would be work.
What am I saying? Keeping records so one CAN fill out a structured form something most don't do.
That's a shame really as keeping tabs helps keep prices down.

It definitely depends how is the car repaired. Cheap parts? Used parts? Genuine parts? Really not the same costs. DIY repairs?

Fortunately I can do my own repairs and I use mostly used OEM parts or new quality parts (Lemforder, Sachs..). I must have spent a good £1000 since 4 years from 100K to 130K including repairs, belts, tires, fluids, etc. The previous owner didn't replace anything, so I had to go through the whole list of repairs/replacements at 100K miles.

But I like the car to be in good condition, at this point there is basically nothing to replace for the next 30K miles or so, except for an inner tie rod and sway bar bushings.

2006 S60 D5 185 manual. Initial spend on driveshafts, belts and engine mounts. Tyres, service items and two more engine mounts over the 80k miles I've owned the thing, oil/filter changes every c20k miles, all other filters at 50k miles. Discs, pads and shoes all round. Over 50mpg today on Asda diesel (170 m/way miles).

Probably the cheapest dreary daily driver I've owned.
