Default NF breathalysers

Hi all,

As above have any of you out there that traverse the continent ever had to use the breathalysers that your meant to carry with you while in France normally in pairs.

Today I noticed that my pair are about to go out of date so I thought I'd give them a go to see how easy they were to use.

They are indeed easy to use and decipher the end result. Far easier to use than the local constabulary were you have to breath until you kidneys fall off, just inflate the bag then attach the little glass capsule onto the bag then squeeze the air out of the bag though the glass capsule and job done.

So to kill a few seconds I took one and my father tried the other.

The test on the top of the pic is my own and showed no change so I guess that would be a pass, rather alarmingly though was the result from my father's test on the bottom of the pic as you can see the indicator shows almost a borderline fail after only one teaspoon of Bell's bronchial balsam, clearly another dose would bring the result close to over the limit!

Just an observation.

Scott

You are not required to carry one in france, they changed their mind when they realised how daft the law is and that the 8eu fine was laughable.

Sorry, but that is not correct. You are still required to carry one in France, even though no fine will be levied. Illogical, but that is the law. It's probably worth keeping one in the car: if the police find something which is not in order, they are likely to go on looking for other things until they find something for which they can fine you!
