Evening chaps!
Glad that was of help, but if we can get ours fixed, it’s thanks to Model Flyer. To be honest, I’m not sure how comfortable I am trying this, and may just buy a new lock; I don’t want to strip it down, it not to work and then have to put it all back together while I wait for a new lock, etc. I’ll be watching to see how you get on, and it may give me the confidence to try the repair myself. Cheers, Nick |

Did a test earlier on the passenger door. When pulling the internal handle, the knob / pin thing moves up and then goes down when releasing the handle. I've tried holding in the up position when releasing the handle but it it very determined to do back down again. The door panel is missing a few clips so looks to have been removed in the past so when I get a minute, it'll remove the panel and have a more thorough investigation.

Hi Simon,
Glad you tried that, as I found mine behaves exactly the same - it certainly doesn’t want to stay unlocked of its own accord. Looking forward to seeing how you get on, and if you can give some pointers on removing the door card, I may have a go myself. Cheers, Nick |

Plucked up courage to have a closer look at the O/S/R door of my 2010 R Design with the 'partial button go down as you lock it problem'. Keep pressing lock and it will eventually go fully down and lock OK, the problem is worse when it is cold. It was not too bad to get to the actual lock and actuator assembly but I could not see how to get it detached from the plastic frame that is between it and the outer door handle. 3 screws in the door close and the locking button all removed and its loose but not removable. Does anyone know the final secret perhaps Model Flyer? Thanks in advance for any input.

Sorry chaps, can anyone enlighten me how to get the lock out of the door? Does the outer handle have to come off, would VIDA help me? Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Finally got the car booked in for a few bits, and thought I'd get this checked at the same time.
According to VIDA the rear door lock is goosed, but they can't fault the front lock...guessing it's a problem with the rear causing the front to misbehave, so have asked them to replace the rear lock, as long as the front is definitely OK...and annoyingly I thought the car was still in warranty, but I've left it a few weeks too late to get it fixed for free as they said it would have been covered... Haven't got time to pull the car apart and play about with replacing parts only for me to mess it up, so will have to put this one down to experience. Will report back tomorrow once I collect it and hopefully all will be good, apart from being around £360 poorer! Cheers, Nick |

All sorted!
Had to wait an extra day to get the car back, as after the front door had been working fine, it started playing up again once the garage were about to sign it off after fitting the rear lock. The result being that they replaced the front lock FOC, as I’d only authorised the rear to be replaced if the front was OK, and it was only £320, not £360, so bit of a result really! They also topped up the PS fluid, checked the oil, put it on VIDA to see if there were any outstanding updates and fitted a set of front mud flaps for just under £100, so a pretty cheap visit! I also had it booked in for a gearbox oil change, which unfortunately didn’t happen as they were sending it to a local gearbox specialist who was going to flush it through, rather than simply replace the oil, but his machine had packed up, so will have to get that done at a later date. Glad to have the wagon back with a couple more niggles ticked off the list. Oh, and rolled past the 100k milestone on the way home today 😃 Nick Last edited by Cubbington; Mar 14th, 2018 at 22:11. |
