iso leads driving me mad!!!
took my radio casette out and found that there is a long black plug with wires in and a round plug that seems to operate the speakers, i then found the amp and this has the same plugs in?? whichever round plug i pull out it stops the speakers working,
i was recommended to buy the iso lead in the picture but dont know where they plug into??? did i get the wrong lead? if so where do i get the right one? and how do i fit the leads? its driving me nuts been messing about for days now!!! the radio casette........ [IMG][/IMG] the lead........... [IMG][/IMG] the white plug is much longer and appears to stretch to the amplifier, however the amp has the same black plug and round plug as the radio casette. and fools guide would be great many thanks Last edited by 240; Jun 10th, 2010 at 14:40. |

Are you changing the radio for a new one?
If you aren't, can't you just plug it all back in the way it was? I'm at work and can't see your pictures, but if you're fitting a new modern radio/cd I think you won't have to use the amp and so the iso plug will fit onto new stereo. If it's all original you won't need the iso lead. My 240 came with a mp3cd head unit in, I've had it out to fit the sub and rear speakers, the original cables were all cut and attached onto the iso plug leads with tape. If you have the manual for your stereo it will tell you what wires are what. Hope this helps. T. |

If you're fitting a new head unit I think you need to get rid of the amp too. I fitted a Pioneer unit in my 240 and moved it to in front of the gear lever at the same time, and I used an Autoleads PC2-52-4 Volvo 240 ISO lead.
I did find one problem, one of the sockets on the supplied lead had a male end when it should have had a female, or the other way round. Not too difficult to fix by using the connector off the wiring that had been removed. |

the wiring loom between the cd player and amp is t-shaped. It has a black rectangular multiplug and a black round multiplug at each end. About 12 inches up the loom from the amp end, you'll find another back rectangular multiplug, and also a small 4-pin square multiplug. This is where the radio/amp plugs ino the car. disconnect here, and plug your adaptor loom into the car side of the loom.
The big plug is for the power connections and front speakers, the small 4 pin is for the rear speakers. My pc2-52-4 lead also had an incorrect plug, male end instead of female on the small one. I solved it as Jonah did by cutting the correct plug off the old harness and wiring it that way, I can tell you the colours to connect together if yours is wrong too. I also stripped out the amp and moved the radio to the 'low' position, but I don't think it's necessary if you keep the radio in the high position. |

you mean on your adapter loom? the black and orange 8-pin plugs will plug into your new stereo. the black carries the power connections, the orange carries the speaker connections. The large black plug and the small white one on your adapter loom will connect to the corresponding plugs in your car. The white plug may be incorrect, it's easily rectified if this is the case.

Yep, just plug the iso sockets together. Don't worry if some wires don't have a partner on the other side of the plug, it's common for this to be so as your CD player may have connections for power aerial, handsfree phone etc. which the volvo doesn't have, or the volvo may have some connections such as light dimmer etc. which the cd player doesn't use.
