V50 2.4 rough running
Hi,
I have also posted this in the normal V50 section cus I dont fully believe that this is a gas issue. BUT just for your expert advice would you be kind enough to take a look? Thank you. Cars done 125000 miles. 100000 of them on LPG. developed some rough running charachteristics at 2000rpm when coasting along, NOT under load. If you load the engine the rough running seems to clear. This is more noticeable when running on gas than on petrol but I would have expected that anyway. Dont believe that it is anything to do with gas system, cus it also does the same on petrol, but just not quite as noticeable. ( up to now the car has virtually ran the same on both LPG and petrol.) Just changed the plugs for new ones, NGK, and not really made no odds. No engine management light to help me. I was thinking of ignition coils or distribution box, if thats what its called, but dont want to buy a full set of lcoil eads just to find that its not them. Changing 1 at a time will be a real ball ache, cus the gas kit is laid across the intake cover on the top of the engine and its a real pig to remove easily. Any other ideas. common faults at this mileage?? Thanks guys. asuk |

If the ame problem is there on both fuels that it is not likely to be a gas fault.
Ignition problems are usualy worse under load. Even if the light is not on a code reader would be a big help as to what is wrong. |

Just a quick update of where we are at.
Repaired the misfire with rechecking all the spark plug gaps, and reseating all the connectors, to the coil packs. So it is now running fine on petrol. However when we run on gas there is still a slight misfire between 1400 and 2200 rpm. So with my son gently revving the engine i Have traced this to a knocking gas injector. (I could not hear this while working on my own on the car, from the inside. ) so a new injector rail is on order, which will be fitted very shortly and hopefully that will be that for a while! Cheers for help again. |
