Hi The symptoms described are exactly the problems which I have.
I had the car serviced awn Wednesday as the engine was running a little 'rough'.
the garage said they had cleaned the glow plugs etc, so the problem was partially solved.
unfortunately needed to fill up with water on the way away for the weekend.
Looks like I either need to try your remedy or have a trip to a Volvo Garage.
Thanks for your post looks really helpful.

It works as a short term fix but can clog up water hoses and teh radiator. I have know it block a water pump and destroy the engine and in other cases the engine of gone on for thousands of miles with no issues.

I would only use it on a end of life car to get the last few miles out of it before weighing it in

Holy thread resurection!
My car did another 50000 miles before I scrapped it.
Due to the bonnet springing up, slapping itself on the roof, cracking the screen and some mechanical issues. But the engine never ran better.
K Seal, recommended
