XC90 seats changed hugely from my 2018 R-Design (seats very hard - sat on them rather than in them) to my 2022 R-Design where seats are WAY more supple/supportive and comfortable so something has changed over more recent years but not sure exactly when they changed.

The worst car seats I have ever endured were in an Astra around 2009. I had to drive from Swindon to Cambridge and was nearly crippled at the end of the journey. I refused to drive back. Of cars that we have owned the wife’s IX35 was uncomfortable. The seats were too short and didn’t have side support. I changed my Discovery Sport for my current XC60 R Design Pro as my leg was starting to ache after driving for any amount of time. I also found I was forever tensing my leg as my knee dropped to the side.

My XC60 is one of the most comfortable cars I have sat in. I am 6’1” and have the extender fully out, rear of the seat fully down and front fully up. My thigh is fully supported underneath and to the side. A previous Audi A4 seat was also set up the same way.

My wife is not so fond of the seats though. She doesn’t like the side supports on the base or the back of the seats. However she hasn’t spent any time adjusting them.

I find my XC90 quite comfortable. The best ones I have had though was my Renault 25, which I had for 9/10 years and covered a quarter of a million miles in it.
