Roughly 6 years and 60k miles since I had belt change, so thought it was time to get it done. Mech showed me the belt - frayed, breaking up and rusty inside
Alternator belt was fine but the pulley gear on the alternator was fubar'd, so needed replacing too
Keep to your belt services peeps!

Is this the timing belt you had changed? 60k miles is poor for a cambelt, I guess it was an aftermarket belt that had been previously fitted?

You say the alternator belt was good so only other belt is the AC belt.

Yes, timing belt. It probably wasn't "genuine" Volvo part but was correct one for the job and likely no different to the OE one anyway. Car had sat outside for a year during covid in lovely Welsh weather which wouldn't have helped either, nor possibly my driving style/type of driving I do.
Alternator belt was changed but hadn't been in as poor condition.
AC Belt looked ok apparently but I need to replace the AC compressor pump so will do that then.
