1988F Volvo 760 GLE 2.8i V6 - Belt Or Chain?
Hi would anyone know if the 1988F Volvo 760 GLE 2.8i V6 has an engine cambelt or a timing chain? & How long does either last for?
This: Or This: Thanks |

oops sorry I mistakenly voted, I blame my sleepy-ness!
But I think they are belt driven and chains tend to last longer which is pretty obvious if you think about it

I read somewhere that the chains dont last forever and they do tend to need replacing. (on some vehicles)
Is this true? Last edited by BackInBlack; May 9th, 2009 at 01:26. |

it was many years ago that i serviced these at the main volvo dealer (not being rude) but there was never any service time/interval to change, the only ones i changed was due to a cam chain snapping and tangling in the oil pump drive chain and gouging the block out, told boss it needed new engine, was told to just fit new chains,it seized up shortly after with low oil presssure (lol) told them ! the only problems with these engines was camshaft/follower wear with poor servicing, change your oil regulary every 6k and all should be ok
