Lightbulb 1988F Volvo 760 GLE 2.8i V6 - Belt Or Chain?

Hi would anyone know if the 1988F Volvo 760 GLE 2.8i V6 has an engine cambelt or a timing chain? & How long does either last for?

oops sorry I mistakenly voted, I blame my sleepy-ness!
But I think they are belt driven and chains tend to last longer which is pretty obvious if you think about it

they are chain driven,had to change a set approx 15 years ago after a rare failure,what a pain the **** that was.no service interval on these.

i assure you after 26 years in the motor trade with volvo and changing a set of chains on this engine i would rememberthe 760 turbo has a cambelt,best regards.

I read somewhere that the chains dont last forever and they do tend to need replacing. (on some vehicles)

Is this true?

it was many years ago that i serviced these at the main volvo dealer (not being rude) but there was never any service time/interval to change,the only ones i changed was due to a cam chain snapping and tangling in the oil pump drive chain and gouging the block out,told boss it needed new engine,was told to just fit new chains,it seized up shortly after with low oil presssure (lol) told them ! the only problems with these engines was camshaft/follower wear with poor servicing,change your oil regulary every 6k and all should be ok

not sure about that,but i believe in America it was a V8 and had 2 cylinders lopped of for Europe.
