Headlamp washer relay V70
Hi folks,
According to my snap on scanner my headlamp washer relay is buggered. Any ideas where this is located? Cant seem to find any info on relays...just fuses😕 Had my bumper off today to replace the standard hoses with silicone hoses due to them leaking badly. I checked over all the wiring behind the bumper but that all looked ok. Im really hoping the relay is not inside the pump as I noticed the spray jets are powered via the pump. Cheers, Kev. |

I've read that its the R9 relay for your headlamp washers. On the XC70, its underneath the fuse box in the engine bay, either that or the fuse box itself has two layers (One on top of the other full of fuses/relays). I presume the V70 is the same, but I'm not sure.
The fuse box is just in front of the battery with a plastic cover on it, near the air filter housing (Right hand side of the engine bay).

It's an old thread, but maybe someone Googling the problem may benefit from it. I had the same problem and fault code. Upon replacing the windscreen washer pump that stopped working one day, I found out that the headlight washer pump was missing at all (removed by one of the previous owners). There are different types of headlight washer pumps though. Some have 2-pin connectors, these most likely don't contain a relay. My car has a 7-pin connector (actually 8-pin with 1 pin missing) - spare part code 30655138 - I think this one might have a relay inside the pump. This type of pump is more expensive and more difficult to find - a new original one costs about 90 and no third party replacements seem to be available, the only cheaper solution is to ask junkyards.
