Well I've just had this very job done, and on the same suspension you've got.
Mine sits equal, but certainly higher than I've got used to. Looks like my old springs had got saggy with age.
Part number on mine is: 30645324
Both springs look the same and both had the same part number sticker on them.

It seems like you've got wrong and unmatched springs fitted.
I'd say the same as xc70Jason, buy the correct springs yourself and get the garage to fit them and refund you for the springs they supplied wrongly.

I note the stealer prices you've quoted, springs are fractionally cheaper than I paid but the fitted price is £40 better which is pretty good 'cos I had to haggle mine down from £440.
As for setting the suspension up, not sure. There is a "calibration" setting in Vida for doing it with a Dice but I think that's more for the shockers than anything to do with springs.
For future reference, I'd stay clear of KwakFit and the like for work on your complicated and expensive car. Find an independent Volvo specialist and insist they use genuine parts. It'll save you hassle and maybe money in the long run

Jason
They still don't, I checked last week
Odd though don't you think, when they make the shockers for Volvo I'd have thought they'd have made the springs to go with them.....

Just in case someone reads this but doesn't have the links.....

Howdy

The side that is lower isn't the side where the coil spring shattered. The Volvo dealer (not the folk who did the springs) is adamant the suspension can only be done right when under load or they sit uneven.

Hi

The folk who fitted the springs (and handed the car back uneven) aren't Volvo - they're just your typical tyre/exhaust/shocks while-u-wait outfit.

They get their parts from Unipart, who I called to check.

Unipart only list one type of rear coil spring for the '06 Model XC70, with variants for either with or without self-levelling suspension, neither of which I believe are suitable for 4C. However - the springs they can get match the parts number quoted on the tyre/exhaust/shocks while-u-wait outfit's invoice. Hence I believe they're not for 4C.

BUT....... The parts dept at my nearest Volvo dealer can see more than 2 types of spring, including those for 4C. They get them sent from Sweden, but won't be held in stock by your average friendly after-market parts dealer.

There are 2 issues - are the 'fitted' springs right (likely not), and assuming they're a matching wrong pair, why is the car sat 7mm uneven?

Yeah this was a painful one as I had no idea about the whole 4C thing. I didn't even know what the switch on the dash was for - just used it now as I've been in 'sports' mode since I bought it in August. Biiiiiiiiig difference!

So here's the latest......

I've got the (correct 4C) springs on order from Sweden and my nearest Volvo dealer will fit them for £360 all in. £170 of that is the cost of the parts.

I have agreed to return the incorrect springs to the tyre-exhaust-shocks place to get my £240 refunded. I do not want them to fit the Volvo springs for me, even if it would save me £190 in Volvo labour as I just don't trust them to do it right (I think there's something in this "fit them under load or it shall forever sit uneven" business).

I have no long runs to make in the meantime, just to the shops and back - it's booked in early next week to get the work done.

Thanks for your help everyone - will report back with the outcome.
